Professional Author Websites

Submitted by Jill Afzelius on Sun, 04/12/2009 - 11:20.

For Authors, it's important to present a professional website when contacting agents and publishers. It's becoming more important to have a web presence. Rather than try to do it yourself, what if someone could do it for you while giving you the tools to maintain it yourself? Without knowing any HTML code? Plus get your own email address such as yourname@yourname.com Wouldn't that look so much better than jcollins241@gmail.com ?

Glistening Harbor

Genesis

The idea for this book came vaguely when I was writing Book 5 in the Dream Slayer series. In this series there is a hybrid vampire/demon creature who can live among humans, go out in sunlight, but need to feed on blood. An offshoot develops into a monster who doesn't want to harm people, but only wants to be normal. In that book, Natalie, must decide if she continues to kill monsters simply because they are monsters even if they've done nothing wrong. In the end she stands against her team for what she knows is right.

Crossed Genres Publishing Short Story

Submitted by Jill Afzelius on Wed, 03/04/2009 - 20:51.

Crossed Genres, an online and hard copy magazine, is going to be publishing my short story The Condiment Wars. Look for it in April 2009! It's a fun fantasy/comedy romp written as a buddy movie with the leads being Ketchup and Mustard (of course!).

If anyone gets to reading it, I'd love to hear what you think!

Agent Requests Full MSS!

Submitted by Jill Afzelius on Wed, 03/04/2009 - 20:49.

I’ve written a series of YA urban fantasy novels and am shopping the first one around now. I’ve been writing the query letters, polishing the synopsis, and finally have an agent on the hook! It’s a long journey, but it’s the first time someone has requested the full manuscript so I’m tickled pink! Now I just have to wait about 6 weeks and see what they have to say about it!

Welcome!

Submitted by Jill Afzelius on Wed, 03/04/2009 - 20:46.

Here is my blog which is going to focus on my writing and publishing pursuits! I love writing and it's the only thing I do with a real passion, gusto for life. When I'm not writing fiction, I publish non-fiction articles for SEO reasons online. Also I help my husband run a successful web design company.

Here I'm going to talk about my writing, struggles, and publishing oops as time goes on. Hopefully one day I'll be able to post that I have found that illustrious pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the literary agent!
